We have created a Military section for our Virtual Pilots who like to fly military aircraft. True to Platinum Airways policy - there are no rules. Simply pick a mission and fly it when you want to, using an aircraft of your choice.
This is not part of the Destination of the Week or Relief flights, and the missions below will remain on the page for some time until they are gradually phased out by new missions. Please note that bonus points will not apply to these flights.
As a rule, military aircraft do not paint well in civilian livery. We will therefore not be stocking our own fleet. Use any aircraft you can lay your hands on, and let us know of any aircraft that is well designed with good flight characteristics, and we will publish a link to the aircraft here.
We have numbered our Military Missions PTM(V)F-x - the (V) indicating Vintage missions. This is so that, when you file a Military Mission PIREP, you can enter in Comments PTM(V)F-x-y/z - x is the Military Mission number, y is the leg of that mission you have flown and z is the total number of legs for that mission. So, for example, PTMF-1-4/6 means that you have flown leg 4 of PTMF 1, which needs 6 legs to be flown to complete the mission.
Please note - when the mission doesn't specify a start base, you may start it at any military air base of your choice.
Planning your own mission
You are welcome to create your own missions. Below you will find three links to websites that provide information on airports, airfields and airbases. They will also provide you with the four digit ICAO code you will need to file your flight in the PIREP section.

Military Ribbons
As you may have seen on the Forums, Platinum Airways has introduced a reward for completing Military Missions - ribbons. These will be awarded on completion of 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 Military Missions.
In keeping with Platinum philosophy, there are few rules for gaining these awards. This page now shows the number of flights which make up a mission. Pilots must complete all flights to count as a completed mission. Pilots may fly any combination of Military Missions and Vintage Military Missions, repeating any mission if they so choose. For practical reasons, Military flights flown prior to the introduction of these ribbons will not be counted. Only Military missions completed from now on will count.
Here are the new ribbons (designed by Al Nel) :-
